Here is my highlight of five posts in the blogging world I found interesting in the last week (or so). If you’re like me, you have limited time, and can’t always stay up-to-date on everyone’s blog. These were some of my favorites.

This is another one of those weeks where I haven’t even made it through my reader all the way, so let’s see if I can make it to five favorites.

1. Digital Photography School
Photographing Children: Capture Who They Are

Another one I missed from last week, but this was so good, that I had to post it this week. I loved the line in there where she talks about knowing your photo is “the one”.

2. Justatish Designs
Come Make a Ring with Me – Tutorial

This is a really simple tutorial on how to make your own custom ring. I’m not a huge fan of rings, but I might try one or two of these out.

3. Digital Photography School
Using Auto to Learn Manual – A Great First Step for Beginners

It’s a really simple idea, but an effective one for learning how to be comfortable in manual on your camera.

4. Welcome to Meredith’s World
Four Ideas to Expand Your Work

The ideas are straight-forward, but yet good to read. I like them all, but #2 has stuck with me. It’s always good to take a break to clear your mind.

5. Blog for Beaders
Swarovski Summer Color Trends

I really enjoyed the Spring release, and the Summer one is pretty cool too. I really want to make something with yellow in it. And I love the turquoise trend!

Hope you enjoyed this short jaunt around the web. Have a lovely rest of your day!

1. My Home Sweet Home
Photoshop CS5: Sneak Peek of the Latest and Greatest!

I should have had this one in my group from last week, but I forgot all about it.  This post shows one of the biggest buzzes about Photoshop CS5 releasing next month.  I, for one, am totally sold!

2. Beading Daily
Indulge in 5 Creative Gifts for Yourself

I really liked this post.  Even though it’s geared towards beaders, I think it applies to any creative person.  And it might sound a little selfish on the surface, but I think it is a great way to get the creative juices flowing.  You can’t create for others if you’re neglecting yourself in the process.

3. Blissfully Domestic
How to Make a Custom iPhone Icon for Your Blog

This is genius. Pure genius.  I look forward to creating my own iPhone icon one day.

4. Beading Daily
Treat Yourself to a Bead Retreat

Yup. Two from Beading Daily this week.  You’ll have to get over it.  I just liked the idea of the bead retreat.  I think part of it is my weekend coming up in just a few weeks, and that I would *love* to go to Wire Masters in October.  Don’t see it happening though…

5. Webdesigner Depot
Captivating Examples of Sleeveface Photography

And this one because it’s late and I’m tired and I thought it was cool.  Enjoy!

Hope you enjoyed this short jaunt around the web. Have a lovely rest of your evening!

Here is my highlight of five posts in the blogging world I found interesting in the past few weeks. If you’re like me, you have limited time, and can’t always stay up-to-date on everyone’s blog. These were some of my favorites.

1. Color for Bead Artists
You See What You Think You See…

This post blew me away! I could not get my eyes to believe it. I had to copy the image in MS Paint and cut out one of the squares to see them side by side. It will mess with your mind.

2. Lori Anderson: Pretty Things
An Old Pretty Thing – A Blickensderfer Typewriter

I don’t even really have a legitimate reason for being excited about this post. I just thought the old typewriter was pretty cool. 🙂

3. Digital Photography School
Why This Photographer Is Better Than Me [My Photography Confession]

Great, great stuff from DPS in the last few weeks. Go over there and follow them if you aren’t already. I loved this post! It just further emphasizes the fact that you will not become a better photographer if you do not have your camera with you at all times. You must be willing to make mistakes – even if a “real” photog might be peeking over your shoulder.

4. Destructoid
Pixels Take Over

I am a child of the 80s (ok, not born in the 80s, but my it’s a part of my young childhood). I can identify quite nicely with the 80s – especially the video games. This little animation is great fun.

5. The Launch Coach
Insecurity Doesn’t Pay the Bills

I found this link through someone on twitter, and now I’m not sure who. Anyway, take a second and read it. I’m a very insecure person, and I’m going to mull over the advice on this one for a while. I might just list some of my insecurities in a future post…

Hope you enjoyed this short jaunt around the web.  Have a lovely rest of your evening!

I had been blogging along pretty okay for a working mom of two little boys, and then all of a sudden, I vanished for 3 weeks or so.  Well, I wish I could say that it’s because I’ve been creating up a storm.  Sadly, it’s just not true.

I’ve spent several weeks doing this…

clothes

And, no, it wasn’t making a big mess.  I was listing and selling most of this stuff on eBay.  A royal pain, but the cash is almost worth it.

In the midst of it, the boys and I got sick, so we stayed home one weekend and did this…

closet

We’d had this closet organizer that we bought not long after we moved (which was well over a year ago), and I finally broke down and installed it.  It took longer than I hoped, but turned out really well.

Then I had to take this one to the Emergency Room a week and a half ago…

ER Visit

He managed to smash his finger in the door at grandma’s house.  Poor guy needed stitches, a follow-up with a specialist, and a plastic bag over his hand while he ate.

We went to a concert in there somewhere.  Last weekend was Easter activities and family stuff.  And I think that’s about all.

But I have managed to take advantage of some of the spring sales.  I hope to be sharing my purchases soon, but here’s a little peek at what I bought to play with from The Beadin’ Path.

lucite flowers

I hope to update again soon, and I’m trying to get my posts together for a Sunday Brunch again this week.  I was going to go back and do the weeks I missed, but I’ve decided to let those go.

I’m not making any major promises at this point because I am having this huge draw to create something, and I think blogging is not going to be the creative outlet I seek this time.  I’m staring at about four different projects in various stages of completion right in front of me.

I also have a master plan for organizing my workspace once and for all that will probably take half a day to put together and the rest of my life to organize.

I’ll leave you with this thought tweeted by TheCraftsReport today…

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing. ~Walt Disney

So I am off to do.  Well, actually, to sleep, but then later to do.
